Twist and Shout with Deacon Blue

Two of shmuFM's presenters have interviewed Dougie Vipond from Deacon Blue prior to their Aberdeen gig.

Angela Joss from The Culture Show and David Ironside from Ultimate 80s spoke to the drummer about their upcoming tour.

Deacon Blue are coming to Aberdeen Music Hall on Sunday the 30th of November.

Interstellar competition winner

shmuFM teamed up with Warner Brothers and Vue Cinemas to run a giveaway for the movie Interstellar.

Our lucky winner, Carol McLean, sent in pictures of her posing with her winnings which included clothing, accessories, gadgets and two tickets to see the film.

shmuFM were paid a visit by Pudsey Bear this morning! Our cuddliest presenter received a beary warm welcome from staff and volunteers when he took the hot seat in Studio 1.

Happy Birthday shmuFM

shmuFM is celebrating its 7th birthday today!

Summer 2007 saw shmuFM move from a community radio license which allowed the organisation to broadcast over a 10km area to full FM frequency broadcasting.

We are two years in to our second 5 year license from Ofcom and are going from strength to strength. This means that 24 hour broadcasting will continue until 2017.

I had no idea what to expect on receiving a last minute phone call asking to me to attend a performance of One Man, Two Guvnors. The show was a roaring success with laugh a minute performances from all involved.

SHMU staff attend local student fayres

Over the month of September staff from shmu have been attending the many Freshers' Fayres put on to welcome new students in to the city.

Aberdeen Univeristy kicked off the lineup with their student fayre on Monday the 8th of September. Organisations from across the city turned up to encourage students to get involved in their volunteering opportunities.

shmu presenter in Queen’s Baton honour

The Queen’s Baton arrived in Aberdeen on Monday and was toured around various locations in the city, with specially selected individuals who were allowed to carry the baton on each leg of its journey.  Our volunteer news team at shmu headed up to Northfield to catch one of our very own shmuFM presenters, Jacqui Innes proudly take up the baton.

We're running our highly successful Youth Radio Summer School during the holidays again this year, which offers free radio training for young people who live or attend school in the regeneration areas of the city.

Talking Science is the latest show to join the shmuFM schedule this week. The dynamic new show - presented by an expert team from the University of Aberdeen - aims to bring science-related news and events to a wider audience, making science and technology more accessible and engaging for everyone.
