What is the Aberdeen BFI Academy

Building on the success of the delivery of our previous BFI Film Academies, Station House Media Unit [shmu] is working in partnership with the British Film Institute, North East Scotland College and the Belmont Filmhouse to deliver Aberdeen’s fourth BFI Film Academy course.  The prestigious course is targeted at young people (16-19 years) who have a passion for film-making and are interested in developing the skills that will help them work towards a career in the industry.

The course, made possibly with investment of just under £16,000 from the BFI, will run weekly from September 2017 to February 2018. It will include masterclasses from a range of industry professionals and culminate in the production of two short films.  

The deadline for applying for our next course is 1st September 2017.

BFI Film Academy 2017 - Apply Now!

Applications are open for the fourth Aberdeen BFI Film Academy course, which runs from October 2017 until February 2018. Funded by the BFI and Creative Scotland and working in partnership with NESCOL and the Belmont Filmhouse, the prestigious course will include masterclasses from a range of professionals, culminating in the production of two short films. Participants are expected to commit to weekly sessions and occasional training and filming over weekends.

BFI Film Academy in Aberdeen

Station House Media Unit [shmu] has been awarded £16,000 to deliver training and inspire the next generation of local film making talent. Station House has been making films in the North East of Scotland for 20 years and this year will deliver the prestigious BFI Film Academy.
